AU DETAILS.
Mar. 18th, 2019 05:22 am Name: “Prompto Besithia”
Age: 21
Species: Magitek Trooper (failed), Human-Daemon crossbreed (genetic)
Specialty: Guns and long-range weaponry.
History:
- Biologically the son of Verstael Besithia, created as one of the first attempts at daemon-human hybridization.
- Prompto showed promise at first - however, unlike the other MTs, Prompto maintained a uniquely human sense of self.
- This made him an incompatible subject for future MT training. While there were originally plans for a staff member and her husband to adopt him, things fell through when it was revealed they planned to flee to Insomnia, They were executed as traitors and Prompto was also slotted to be disposed of as he was no longer of use to the MT program.
- Plans were then made to dispose of him. However, a chance inspection placed him in the care of Chancellor Ardyn, who took an interest in the boy’s unusual circumstances.
- From then on, Prompto was raised to be a servant of the empire.
- He is fully aware that he is a failed project of sorts and as such, works twice as hard as anyone around him in order to prove his worth.
- He's fitted with a tracker that allows the Empire (and the MTs) to know where he is at all times.
- He's taught photography as a means of relaying information back to the Empire.
- Daemons do not view him as a target due to his similar genetic structure. Some even recognize him as kin (the Naga).
PRE-GAME
- Prompto is moved to Insomnia. On paper, it’s to spy on the country and it’s ongoing struggles. In practice, it’s to befriend Noctis for Ardyn and Verstael’s purposes. He’s largely in the dark about their plans, he just knows he has to get close to the prince for something that hasn’t yet come to pass and it will benefit Niflheim.
- Prompto awkwardly bumbles his way into Noctis’ good graces. Even if he’s doing it for all the wrong reasons, he finds himself genuinely enjoying Noctis’ company and quickly becomes attached to him.
- Getting in with Noctis means getting in with Ignis and Gladio, though to a far lesser extent.
- Prompto begins to develop genuine attachment to the three of them. They treat him like a human being, not just an extension of Ardyn’s will or a tool to be used in service to the Empire.
- Prompto still happens to come upon Pryna and takes care of her after an injury. Lunafreya sends him a letter, thanking him for doing so and commends him on being a good friend to Noctis.
- This marks the beginning of his doubts about his blind loyalty to the Empire.
GAME EVENTS
- Most events are largely the same. The only difference is some motivations have changed.
- He was unaware of the Empire’s plans to betray and overthrow Regis. As far as Prompto understood it,, the peace treaty was meant to be the end of the war. Following the betrayal he’s informed of the change of plans in Galdin Quay by Ardyn himself. Unsure how to proceed, Prompto continues following orders and assisting Noct in locating the royal tombs and fighting the Astrals.
- The Naga kidnapping is much more significant to him as he understands the beast kidnapping him is, more than likely, his actual biological mother. It shakes him to his core.
- It’s during the final events of the Hunter quest line that Prompto really begins to question what he’s doing and why he’s going along with things that feel so wrong.
- When Noct is under the illusion that Prompto is Ardyn, Prompto believes it’s because Noct has found out his betrayal. When he’s thrown from the train, he accepts his fate. He survives the fall and even thinking they know of his betrayal, decides he has to help.
- Upon being reclaimed by the Empire after the events on the train, Prompto is initially well received for playing his part. However when it becomes clear that his time in the Prince’s company has changed him, he’s slotted for “reconditioning”. After a lengthy session comprised of physical torture and brainwashing, his captor is transformed into a Daemon due to the events unfolding within the compound.
- BAD ENDING: Prompto stays loyal to the Empire and his father's vision and fights them to his death.
- He confesses to everything after they rescue him. Albeit taking more blame than he should, as he places additional responsibility upon himself due to Ignis’ injuries and Noct’s emotional distress.
- Ignis and Gladio are understandably Not Thrilled.
- Noct goes into the crystal.
- Prompto spends the next decade trying to keep things going as they wait for Noctis' return. Gladio and Ignis don't necessarily forgive the betrayal, but he proves his worth and usefulness and they manage some semblance of function.
- Noctis comes back. He and Prompto have a conversation about how he can't fix Prom, but at least they'll be together at the end.
- They take back Insomnia.
- NEUTRAL ENDING: The sun comes up and he dies like all the rest of the infected who are too far gone to cure.
- GOOD ENDING: Episode Ignis.
